Abstract :

Energy industries are facing challenges on supply and demand unbalance as well as climate change. Energy demand will continue to increase whereas hydrocarbon reserves are dwindling and/or more difficult to produce. There are environmental issues such as land and water pollution and affecting climate change due to CO2. It is up to technical leaders who can take these challenges and change into business opportunities.

World leading companies in public and private sector have been developing innovative technologies to produce clean energy sources. SK Innovation is working on developing advanced technologies in the area of CIGS thin-film PV, Solid oxide fuel cell,Li-ion batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage system, and bio fuel such as cellulosic ethanol and bio-butanol. Recent development of CO2 polymer,GreenPolTM, which utilizes CO2 as a feedstock to make useful plastic will also be introduced.
