Engineering Education at Harvey Mudd College

Abstract:

Despite its small size, Harvey Mudd College is among the top ranked undergraduate engineering programs in the United States. Building off the Engineering Clinic program, Harvey Mudd has constructed a program committed to experiential learning in engineering. In this talk, we will review the curriculum and programsat Harvey Mudd. In addition to the talk, a few short videos will be used to illustrate the engineering program and the outcomes it achieves.

Background:

Professor Little is the J. Stanley and Mary Wig Johnson Professor of Engineering Management at Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, California. He served as the Director of the Engineering Clinic for 8 years, and as Acting Director of the Global Clinic for two years. Professor Little was co-founder of A&L Associates, a transportation consulting firm specializing in railroad reliability. He has been a Visiting Professor at the California Institute of Technology, McGill University and Kogakuin University. He was Vice President of the Transportation Research Forum for many years.
